New Delhi. The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has expressed her condolences on the loss of lives and extensive damage in the recent earthquake that struck Chile.

In a condolence message to the President of Chile, Dr. Michelle Bachelet, she has said, “I learnt with deep sorrow about the massive earthquake in Chile which caused extensive loss of life and widespread damage to property and infrastructure. On behalf of the Government and people of India as well as on my own behalf, I extend our deep condolences. India stands by Chile in its moment of crisis. I am confident that the Government and people of Chile will have the strength and fortitude to overcome the effects of the earthquake.”
