New Delhi. The population of a small minority community, namely, Parsis , has been declining over the years: it declined from 1,14,000 in 1941 to 69,000 in 2001 as per Census population data. In order to arrest this trend of diminishing population, Government proposes to assist the community. The scheme for containing population decline of Small Minority Community is to be implemented during 2010-11 and a budgetary provision of Rs. 1 crore has been made for this purpose.

The Scheme will be implemented as a Central Sector Scheme, and is one of the four new schemes to be implemented during the current financial year by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. The Scheme is currently undergoing the process of formulation, appraisal and approval by the competent authority.
