New Delhi. According to India Meteorological Department, there will be increased activity in rainfall all over the country, particularly over west coast and northwest India during next five days. Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur over coastal Karnataka, Maharashtra, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya during next three days.

Current meteorological analysis indicates that widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over coastal Karnataka and Konkan & Goa. Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, northeastern states, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over east and central India during next 48 hours and decrease thereafter. Scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat state during next 24 hours and increase thereafter. Isolated rain/thunderstorms would occur over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during next 48 hours and increase thereafter. There is possibility of fall in maximum temperatures by 2-4°C over plains of northwest India and adjoining central India during next 2-3 days.

South-west monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Madhya Pradesh. Heat wave conditions are prevailing over isolated pockets of east Rajasthan. The highest maximum temperature of 43.0°C was recorded at Churu (Rajasthan) during past 24 hours. Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) Guidance indicate that he western disturbance would affect Western Himalayan region and plains of northwest India during next 2-3 days, where as Satellite Observations indicates that KALPANA–1 Cloud imagery at 0530 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, east Arabian Sea and central Bay of Bengal. Low/medium clouds are seen over remaining parts of the country except west Rajasthan.
