Weekly Trends in Retail Prices of Food Commodities

New Delhi. Commodity wise analysis of trends in retail prices at different centres over the week (1.7.2010- 8.7.2010) is given below:

Prices of wheat remained steady at all the reporting centres except for an increase at 3 centres (Mumbai, Vijaywada and Chennai) and decrease at 2 centres (
Kanpur and Guwahati). Prices of rice remained steady at all the reporting centres except for an increase at 3 centres (Mumabi, Patna and Vijaywada) and decrease at 1 centre (Dindigul).

Prices of sugar remained steady at all the reporting centres except for an increase at 9 centres (
Delhi, Jammu, Raipur, Rajkot, Patna, Hyderabad, Vijaywada, Bangalore and Dindigul, and decrease at 1 centre (Shimla).

Prices of gram dal, urad dal, groundnut oil, mustard oil and vanaspati remained steady at majority of reporting centres. Prices of tur dal remained steady at most of the reporting centres except for an increase at 1 centre (Ahmedabad) and decrease at 4 centres (
Delhi, Gauwhati, Vijaywada and Bhubaneshwar). Prices of moong dal remained steady at all the reporting centres except for an increase at 1 centre (Chennai) and decrease at 8 centres (Delhi, Shimla, Kanpur, Jaipur, Patna, Shillong, Vijaywada and Dindigul). Prices of masoor dal remained steady at all the reporting centres except for a decrease at 4 centres (Delhi, Lucknow, Agartala and Vijaywada) and increase at 1 centre (Patna).

In
Delhi, the prices of tur dal, urad dal, moong dal and masoor dal decreased during the week, while the prices of rice, wheat, atta, gram dal, mustard oil, vanaspati and potato remained steady. Sugar, milk, groundnut and onion prices increased during the period.
